Little Hands Home Daycare

CURRICULUM

Little Hands is a full day, full year daycare and preschool program.

Our preschool curriculum is theme-based, designed around the Illinois Early Learning  Standards for Pre-K, to create an enthusiasm for learning and build school readiness skills for Kindergarten and beyond.

As part of our literacy curriculum, we utilize Jolly Phonics

(also used by school district 158), a program that

targets letter recognition, phonics, and writing of the

alphabet to help your child achieve optimal early

reading and writing skills.

Social skills are critical to every child's success, which is why we teach a supplemental curriculum called Second Step, to build an early foundation of negotiation skills, identifying feelings, and self-calming methods.

Current research shows that children learn best by playing and need many opportunities to explore.

We focus on  activities in small groups at our various learning centers in the classrooms.

Field trips throughout the year are planned for our preschool-aged students to enhance your child’s learning experience.
